Caedyn's 4th Birthday Preparations: December 2010

Caedyn's 4th birthday party was a Mermaid Princess Tea Party with some pirates mixed in for the guys! I always have SO much fun coming up with the ideas for my kids' parties, and thanks to this lady here, my Momma, everything always comes out better than I expect! I have to say, we make a really great party team! We have decided, however, that although we would have fun planning parties for others, no one could afford us! It is SO much work!

At Momma's house, Caedyn likes to play tea party with that red bear and the green stool he is sitting on. Momma found some cute punch cups at a thrift store and tied simple ribbons on the handles

I found a mermaid online and used my SMART board at school to project it and trace it. Then I spent a whole night coloring it. I love it. We played Pin the Tail on the Mermaid, so I had to color two tails!

This silver Christmas tree is Caedyn's tree in her room, but since her first birthday, we have always had ornaments as favors at her party and hung them on this tree. This year I bought several mini tea sets from Dollar General, tied ribbon around the handles of the cups, and glued the saucers to the cups. They were cute, but you can't see them in the picture very well. I also attempted a seashell garland from the shells we collected at the beach at Thanksgiving, but it didn't look so great. It is on the tree though. The seashells were my attempt to bring in the mermaid aspect.

This was the boys' pirate table. It was no different from the girls' table except that it had different colored balloons. We used toule (sp?) and lights for the center of the tables and scattered significant items like pictures and tea sets up and down the tables and as the centerpieces.
This is the girls' mermaid table. The mirror on this table is at Caedyn's seat. She uses this mirror at my mom's house for all of her tea parties, so it was only appropriate that the mirror be at the most important tea party!
My friend, Elizabeth, has done all of my kids' birthday cakes, and she did a fantastic job on Caedyn's mermaid cake. Caedyn helped me pick out a picture of a great cake, and Elizabeth made it come to life!
